A reproduction of an influential sixteenth-century English advice manual for merchant apprentices. The work of an experienced Bristol merchant named John Browne, who seems to have been one of the first to realise the desirability of providing young men with a manual of information and advice when starting their commercial careers. With a detailed introduction exploring both the subject matter of the work and the little information we can find on the author himself. Edited by Professor Patrick McGrath, a British historian and professor at the University of Bristol.
Condition
In the original paper wraps. Externally, sound with rubbing and light chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the spine with the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
