In the publisher’s original cloth, with a frontispiece in nos. 107, 121, 124, 141, 215/220, 218 and 246. Collated complete.

Founded originally as a club by Frederick James Furnivall in 1864, the society compiles a set of literary classics from Old and Middle English manuscripts. This particular set includes fifteen works.

Condition

In the publisher’s original cloth. Externally, very smart. Minimal marks to boards, slightly more pronounced to front of Orleans and Gower, and rear of Parliament and Lydgate Poems I. A couples of marks to spines of both Lydgate Poems and Princes I, tail of Princes II and head of Princes IV. Slight sunning to spines, a little heavier to Erthe and Orleanes. Minor shelf wear to extremities, with slight bumping to heads and tails of spines apart from Orleans, Lydgate's Reason II and Cloud. End papers are generally bright and clean, with the rare small spot. Spotting slightly more pronounced to end paper extremities of Princes IV, Parliament and Cloud. Offsetting to free end papers of Liflade and Gower. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the odd spot to title leaves of Erthe.
