The first editions of Volumes VI, VII, VIII and X of this series in the publisher's original cloth bindings. Volumes VII and X are in the original unclipped dust wrappers; Volumes VI and VIII are in the original price-clipped dust wrappers.

A wonderful, alphabetically arranged study of British birds by renowned ornithologist David Bannerman, the Curator of the British Museum of Natural History from 1919 to 1952. Bannerman provides species identification, distribution, migration, and breeding behaviours of each species discussed.

For this work, artist George E. Lodge painted three-hundred and seventy-seven images depicting four-hundred and thirty-five species.

Illustrated with twenty-six colour plates to volume VI; twenty-seven to volume VII; twenty-six to volume VIII; and twenty-three to volume X. With each plate retaining the original captioned tissue guard. Collated, complete.

Lacking a title page to Volume VI; containing instead a duplicated contents page.
