What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

First edition, first impression of the English translation.

Bound in the publisher's cloth with the original, unclipped dust wrapper.

With the publisher's note tipped-in after the copyright page, as is required with the first impression. The note discusses the textual deletions made to comply with the request of Lord Chamberlain.

An excellent copy of this hugely influential play, voted as "the most significant English-language play of the 20th century" in a poll carried out by the British Royal National Theatre.

A tragicomedy evolving around two main characters, Vladimir and Estragon, as they wait on Godot, who never arrives. While they wait, they engage in various discussions and encounters.

One of the best known works of Irish playwright, poet and novelist, Samuel Beckett. 'Waiting for Godot' was a reworking of Beckett's own original French play 'En Attendant Godot', which was written between 1948 and 1949.

With the bookplate of Alexander White Thomas Liddell.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's cloth with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. Bookplate to front paste down. Dust wrapper is very smart, with light edge wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Rubbing to the joints, flyleaves and head of the wrap, causing small chips. The odd mark and light sunning to the spine of the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
