Five volumes. First edition. A collection of Cool and Lam novels, following a fictional American private detective firm that is the center of a series of thirty detective novels. Bertha Cool is displayed as extremely avaricious and miserly, with persistence, loyalty, and nerve. While excitable Donald Lam begins his adventures as the employee of Bertha Cool, finding himself in several fistfights, and losing all but one. Written by Erle Stanley Gardner, an American author and lawyer, best known for the Perry Mason series of legal detective stories. Gardner published under numerous pseudonyms, including A. A. Fair. This set contains: Beware the Curves, 1956. You Can Die Laughing, 1957. The Count of Nine, 1958. Pass the Gravy, 1959. Bachelors Get Lonely, 1961.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original dust wrappers remain unclipped other than Pass the Gravy and Bachelors Get Lonely which have been price-clipped. Dust wrappers are smart with light wear and chipping to the extremities. Minor sunning to the spine with the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
