First edition. The second novel in the 'Swords of Honour' trilogy, the novels loosely parallel Waugh's wartime experiences. During the Second World War, Guy Crouchback is sent back to England in disgrace, but manages to find a place in a fledgling commando brigade, training on a Scottish island under an old friend, Tommy Blackhouse. Written by Evelyn Waugh, an English novelist, biographer, journalist, book reviewer, and writer of travel books.
Condition
In the original full blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd mark to the boards. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light wear and the odd small closed tear to the extremities. Light loss to the head of the spine with minor chipping to the tail of the spine and panel edges. Sunning to the spine with light spotting to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers.
