What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

First edition. Illustrated with eight photogravure plates and nineteen in-text images. Collated complete. This work deals with the old gods of mythology - Odin, Thor, Tyr, Balder, and the rest - whose monuments in English are now some of the names of the days of the week, place names, and folk tales. Here the ancient myths of the Anglo-Saxons and Norse congeries of tribes are preserved and retold, with an attempt to assess the relevance of these tales to the modern day. Written by Brian Branston, a British author, scholar, and film producer.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is smart with light wear and the odd small closed tear to the extremities. Light sunning to the spine with the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Contemporary ink marks and annotations in black and red ink. With a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper and light spotting to the endpapers.
