Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

A set of thirteen volumes from this annual published by the Rationalist Association, organisation founded in the late nineteenth century by a group of freethinkers, unhappy with the lack of intellectual tenor within the British secularist movement.

This annual contains a series of articles discussing social, psychological, and philosophical topics in relation to contemporary events.

Comprising continuous volumes for 1954-61 and 1963-67. Vols for 1954, 1955, 1956, and 1959 in the original publisher's wraps, while the rest of the volumes are hardback editions complete with dust wrappers.

General editorship by Hector Hawton, British humanist and rationalist writer, managing director of the Rationalist Press Association.

Featuring contributions by Bertrand Russell ('Are the World's Troubles due to Decay of Faith?'), Somerset Maugham ('The Judgement Sea'), Hyman Levy ('The Chaos of Scientific Recruitment'), Margaret Knight ('Humanism on the Air: A Study in a Listener Reaction'), and Hermann Bondi ('Science and Religion') among others.
