A study on printing of the Mainz Psalter, a psalter commissioned by the Mainz archbishop in 1457 which introduced several innovations and was the first book to feature a printed date of publication. With additional commentary on the Canon of the Mass or the Canon Missae, the oldest anaphora used in the Roman Rite of Mass. Includes exploration on pinholes and their interpretation, antiphonal print and technique, red and black prints, and the modes of setting. Written by Sir James Irvine Orme Masson, an Australian-born chemist who was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield from 1938 to 1953.
