A compilation of reliable recipes with occasional culinary chat, being one of the United States' most-published and one of the world's most widely read cookbooks. Following the loss of her husband, Rombauer's children encouraged her to compile her recipes and thoughts on cooking to help her cope with her loss, creating the first drafts that would later become Joy of Cooking. Containing more than five hundred tested recipes and related commentaries, this work was intended for the homemaker, to provide efficient tips and simple guides. Written by Irma Rombauer, an American cookbook author, best known for this work, and her daughter Marion Rombauer Becker, an American illustrator, author, environmentalist, and arts administrator. Adapted for use in England by M. Baron Russell.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper with the bookseller's label to the front pastedown.
