First edition. Railway Series No. 9. Illustrated with thirty full-page colour images. A charming story book focused on Edward, who appeared with Gordon and Henry in The Three Railway Engines, now joined again by his friends for a new adventure. Written by Wilbert Vere Awdry, often credited as Rev. W. Awdry, an English Anglican minister, railway enthusiast, and children's author. He is best remembered as the creator of Thomas the Tank Engine and several other characters who appeared in his Railway Series. Illustrated by Clarence Reginald Dalby, an English artist who was the third illustrator of The Railway Series by W.V. Awdry and a Royal Air Force intelligence officer during the Second World War.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light wear and fading to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Original unclipped dust wrapper is worn with chipping and light loss to the extremities. Sunning and fading to the spine and panel edges with the odd small closed tear or crease. A 1" closed tear to the rear panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot.
