Each volume is present in the first edition, first impression, with the exception of Volume VI Part I, which is present in the second impression.

The 1954 first impression of volume I, 'The Early Successes in Italy', by Major-General I.S.O. Playfair. Illustrated with thirty maps and diagrams, and forty-three photographs.
The 1956 first impression of volume II, 'The Germans Come to the Help of their Ally', by Playfair. Illustrated with twenty-nine maps and diagrams, and forty-four photographs.
The 1960 first impression of volume III, 'British Fortunes Reach their Lowest Ebb', by Playfair. Illustrated with forty maps and diagrams, and forty photographs.
The 1966 first impression of volume IV, 'The Destruction of the Axis Forces in Africa', by Playfair and Brigadier C.J.C. Molony. Illustrated with forty maps and diagrams, and forty-four photographs.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth bindings, with unclipped dust wrappers. Bump to volume I back strip head, with shelf wear to back strip tails. Otherwise, externally excellent. Dust wrapper back strips of vols I and II age toned, with light edgewear to back strip heads. Small tide mark to fore edge of volume I front wrap. Small closed tear to tail of volume I front wrap. Small closed tear to tail of vol IV front wrap tail. Closed tear to fold over rear joint of volume V. Tape repairs to reverse of volume V dust wrapper, running the length of each of the four folds. Closed tear to tail of volume VI part II dust wrapper front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
