Two volumes. Written by Robin Howe, a British connoisseur of regional cookery and dining. This set contains: German Cooking, 1953. A collection of typically German recipes, considered a contribution to culinary scholarship and an eye-opener to British cooks to the delights of the German diet. With recipes from mustard sauce and eel steamed in beer, to sauerkraut and fried dumplings. Rice Cooking, 1959. An exploration into the many different ways of cooking rice and enjoying rice dishes, stepping away from the rice puddings and curries found on most British tables. With recipes including rice and baked fish, mango pilau, and paella, amongst others.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor bumping. Original unclipped dust wrappers are also smart with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Minor sunning to the spines with the odd small closed tear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. With the previous owner's bookplate to the front endpapers.
