A story paper aimed at teenage boys, published between 1879 and 1967. Containing adventure stories and stories concerning school life; articles on nature study, sports, and games; instructions for biulding items such as canoes; puzzles and essay competitions. With numerous advertisements.
Contributors in earlier issues included many prominent authors including W. G. Grace and Sire Arthur Conan Doyle, Jules Verne, and others.
The present collection is comprised of consecutive numbers from vol. 74, No. 4 to vol. 75, No. 3 (January to December 1952); and Vol. 78, no. 7. (April 1956). Notably, it contains stories about Biggles by W. E. Johns, following the fictional pilot and adventurer.
Each wrap features beautiful illustrations in colour.
Condition
In the original publisher's illustrated colourful wraps. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Illustrations in black and white in text, some duo-tone leaves of advertisements.
