Often regarded as one of the forefathers of humanist literature, Boccacio is often considered one of the greatest prose writers in European history. Volume 8 includes Boccacio's Decameron, a collection of short stories considered to be one of the most significant works in Medieval European literature, masterfully portraying humanity and Italian society in the fourteenth century.

Volume 8: 'Decameron - Filocolo, Ameto Flammeta', edited by Enricho Bianchi, Carlo Salinari and Natalino Sapegno. Published 1952.
Volume 9: 'Opere in Versi, Corbaccio, Trattatello in Laude di Dante, Prose Latine, Epistole', edited by Pier Giorgio Ricci. Published in 1965.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth, in the original unclipped dustwrappers and slipcases. Externally, very smart and clean, with small bumps to heads of spines. The occasional mark to slipcases, with slight spotting to top of volume 9 slipcase. A large closed tear to top rear edge of volume 8 slipcase. Dust wrappers are generally bright and clean, with sunning to spines. Minimal spots to wrapper spines, a faint spot to front wrapper of volume 9. Small signs of shelf wear to extremities, with a small chips to wrapper, one near joint and one on top right corner of front, of volume 9. End papers are bright and clean. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Volume 9 book ribbon intact.
