First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
The very scarce first edition of this illustrated catalogue on English chairs held at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
From the library of Ambrose Heal (1872-1959), an English furniture designer and businessman who served as the chairman of Heal's (then known as Heal & Son) from 1913-1953. His designs appeared at exhibitions of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society for more than thirty years, with his most significant contribution being simpler, well-designed pieces desirable to a broader middle-class public.

With a history of the English chair, followed by 120 full-page monochrome photographs. Collated, complete.
Condition
In the original wraps. Externally, very smart, with minor fading and creasing to the spine. With a crease to the front cover bottom right corner and a couple minor marks to the rear cover. Internally, firmly bound. Bright and clean, with the only exception being Ambrose Heal's ownership inscription to the title page.
