Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
The eighth edition, being the first to be published since the war.
A very scarce mid-19th century guidebook to Shoreditch.
In the original cloth binding.
Providing overview of Shoreditch's historical notes, places of worship, the furniture industry, public health services, pre and post-war housing and educational facilities.
This copy was previously owned by the Mayor and Mayoress of Shoreditch from 1954-1955. With their contemporary ink inscriptions to the front free endpaper.
With advertisements to the front and rear of the volume. With a folding street plan printed to the back of a some advertisements to the rear. There is seemingly a binding issue however that prevents it from folding out all the way.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with only mild shelf wear to the spine head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and generally clean, with a contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper. Offsetting to both free endpapers.
