Clarke's second non-fiction work, discussing rocketry and space travel, and on the possibility of voyages to the moon and other planets.

Illustrated with four colour plates by Leslie Carr, and with ten other images on plates, alongside further vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.

With the inscription of G. R. Inglis to the front pastedown, and an inscription reading 'from mother with love', dated 1951, to the verso of the front free endpaper.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Light fading to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Inscription to front pastedown and verso of front free endpaper. Dust wrapper back strip age toned. Losses of paper to dust wrapper back strip head and tail, with significant loss to head of rear wrap and tail of front wrap, and with a smaller area of loss to the head of the front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
