First edition. A dramatic play which was adapted into a film staring Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly. A simple story revealing a painful tangle of apprehension and misunderstandings as a wife and a stage director attempt to reclaim an actor from alcoholism and restore him to the stage as a fully accredited star. Written by Clifford Odets, an American playwright, screenwriter, and actor whose socially relevant dramas were extremely influential during the last years of the Great Depression. His works have inspired Arthur Miller, Paddy Chayefsky, Neil Simon, and David Mamet.

In the original yellow cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also excellent with minor sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
