The whole of Apologie and Treatise, covering many voyages he made in the sixteenth century, and selections from his surgical writings on diverse subjects including wounds, aneurisms, amputations, fractures, and the bezoar, amongst others. Written by Ambroise Pare, a French barber surgeon who served kings Henry II, Francis II, Charles IX and Henry III. He is considered one of the fathers of surgery and modern forensic pathology as a pioneer in surgical techniques and battlefield medicine, especially in the treatment of wounds. Edited with an introduction by Sir Geoffrey Langdon Keynes, a British surgeon and author.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also very smart with light wear and spotting to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light age toning and the odd small spot to the endpapers.
