The Theodore Spencer Memorial Lecture, given by T. S. Eliot at Harvard on the 21st November 1950. In this lecture, Eliot discusses poetry as it is used for dramatic purpose, and the effect of the dramatic purpose upon the poetry.
Eliot gave this lecture as an affectionate tribute to his friend, Theodore Spencer, who had been the Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory at Harvard.
Condition
In the original publisher’s cloth binding, in the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Very light shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine. Spots to the fore edge and endpapers. Light edge wear to the dust wrapper, with a small chip to the spine. Age-toning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few scattered spots.
