The first edition, of this work with 'first edition' to the colophon, as called for. This is the second issue, in the Currey priority B binding, with sheets measuring 20.3 x 12.5 cm, resulting in the dust wrapper being too large.
In the second state dust wrapper designed by David Kyle, with the main character's name correctly spelled. Unclipped and correctly priced $2.75.
This work, the first book in Asimov's 'Foundation Series' gathers together five interrelated short stories, telling the early story of the Foundation, an institute founded by 'psychohistorian' Hari Seldon to preserve the best of galactic civilization after his predicted collapse of the Empire.
These tales are set in a slowly declining Galactic Empire, based on the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. A touch of shelf wear to back strip tail, otherwise externally fine. Rubbing to dust wrapper back strip head, with light rubbing to back strip tail. Handling marks to rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned to perimeters due to paper type, but clean.
