First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
Three first editions from the celebrated Modernist poet, best known for works such as ‘The Waste Land’ and ‘Four Quartets’. Each volume is a first edition, first impression, in the publisher’s original unclipped dust wrappers. Present here are: The 1950 first edition, first issue of the three act verse drama ‘The Cocktail Party’, with "Here" for "Her" on page 29. The 1951 first edition, first impression of ‘Poetry and Drama’, taken from the Theodore Spencer Memorial Lecture given at Harvard University, November 21, 1950. The 1954 first edition, first issue of the comic verse play ‘The Confidential Clerk’, with "Ihad" uncorrected on page 7. Dust wrapper rear wrap a first issue, with "Donald Gallop" rather than Gallup.
Condition
In the publisher’s original cloth bindings, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with fading to ‘Cocktail’ back strip tail. Dust wrapper back strips lightly age toned, small losses to back strip heads and tails, with more significant loss to ‘Poetry’ back strip head. Small losses and closed tears to ‘Clerk’ front wrap head. Small loss to head of rear wrap head of ‘Party’, with two closed tears to front wrap head, and marks to front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with the odd spot.
