Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, seven colour plates, and numerous in-text images highlighted with colour. Collated complete. The sequel to his Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865). Following the central figure, Alice, as she enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a large looking-glass into a world that she can see beyond it. There she finds that, just as in a reflection, things are reversed, including logic. Written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, an English author, poet, mathematician, photographer and reluctant Anglican deacon. Best known for his Alice novels for children. Illustrated by Rene Mable Neighbor Cloke, a British illustrator and watercolorist best known for her prolific output of artwork for children's books and greeting cards.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing to the extremities and damp marks to the board edges. A small split in the cloth to the head of the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Light tide marks and stains from the cloth to the pastedowns and endpapers.
