Forester's novel, set in WWI East Africa, follows a gin-swilling Canadian riverboat captain is persuaded by an English missionary to undertake a trip up a treacherous river to attack a German gun-boat.

The novel was adapted into a 1951 motion picture starring Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. A touch of fading to back strip, with bumping to spine head and tail. Light spotting to fore edge of text block. Dust wrapper bright, with back strip lightly age toned. Losses to back strip head and tail, with small loss to head of front wrap, and closed tear to tail of rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
