This anthology comprises ten short stories and were all previously published in various magazines between 1939 to 1940, covering the period just before the war to its early days. The stories describe the exploits of amateur criminologist, Doctor Vane, who offers his impressive practical skills to Major Ludlow, a senior officer in the counter-intelligence service.

From English writer and First World War pilot, W. E. Johns, who is best known for his popular Biggles air-adventure series under his pen name Capt. W. E. Johns.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, with fading and spots to the spine. Rubbing to the extremities and a faded streak to the front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with offsetting and light spots to the endpapers.
