Commencing in 1942 with 'Five on a Treasure Island', Blyton's Famous Five series quickly became a firm favourite in the world of children's literature. The stories feature the adventures of a group of young children, with Julian, Dick, Anne, George and their dog Timmy. Blyton published 21 novels altogether, as well as a number of short stories on the same theme.

This collection is comprised of:

'Five on a Treasure Island' (1950), the 7th impression, first published in 1942. 
'Five on Kirrin Island Again' (1958), the 11th impression, first published in 1947. 
'Five Go to Billycock Hill' (1959), the 2nd impression, first published in 1957. 
'Five Go Off to Camp' (1960), the 10th impression, first published in 1948. 
'Five Run Away Together' (1960), the 11th impression, first published in 1944. 
'Five Go To Mystery Moor' (1962), the 6th impression, first published in 1954.
'Five Go Down to The Sea' (1964), the 7th impression, first published in 1963.
'Five On a Secret Trail', (1966), the 5th impression, first published in 1956. 
'Five Go Adventuring Again' (1971), a reissue of the 14th impression, published by Brockhampton Press. The third impression of this reissue.

All dust wrappers remain unclipped, with the exception of 'Five on Kirrin Island Again' and 'Five Go Adventuring Again'.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's cloth, with the original dust wrapper, seven of which remain unclipped. Externally, very smart, with light shelf wear and the odd mark. Ink inscription to the endpaper of 'Five go down to the Sea', 'Five run away Together' and 'Five on a Treasure Island'. Dust wrappers are very good, with light edge wear, a few marks and the odd closed tear or chip to the extremities. Slight fading to the backstrips of some wraps. Heavier wear to the wraps of 'Five on Kirrin Island Again', 'Five go Adventuring Again' and 'Five on a Treasure Island'. Slight loss to the extremities and rear panel of 'Five Go Adventuring Again' wrap, with marks to front endpapers. Loss to the front wrap of 'Five on a Treasure Island', with significant tape repair, holding the wrap together at the joints and flyleaves. Tape repair to the recto and verso of 'Five on Kirrin Island' wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few spots to 'Five on a Treasure Island'. Ink note to half title of 'Five go to Mystery Moor'.
