A selection of books on cookery and the home, including Andre L. Simon's survey of cheeses around the world, Rose Buckner's guide to home design and management, and more. 

Majority of the volumes are first editions, with the exception of 'Cheeses', which is a second impression. 

With the publisher's original dust wrappers, 'Cheeses' being clipped. 

The entirety of this set comprises the following: 

Rose Buckner's Book of Homemaking (1950) - First edition. Undated, dated from the British Library. With sixteen pages of inset drawings and many in-text drawings. Collated, complete.

Festival Menus Round the World by Sula Benet (1957) - First edition. A fascinating survey of festive dishes found across the world, including Parsley Duck from China, Roast Goose from Denmark, Stuffed Grape Leaves from Egypt and Sachertorte from Austria. 

Cheeses of the World by Andre L. Simon (1960) - Second impression. Cheeses from every part of the world are expertly described here by wine merchant, gourmet and prolific wine writer Andre Simon. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated, lacking one plate. 

House into Home by Elizabeth Kendall (1962) - First edition. A comprehensive guide for all home-makers in achieving the right colour, style and atmosphere. With advice on buying furniture, curtains, carpts, pictures and more. With numerous full-page drawings by David Gentleman. 


Condition

In the original cloth bindings. 'House into Home' in the original decorative paper covered boards. With the publisher's original dust wrappers, 'Cheeses' being clipped. Externally, with worming to the spine head of 'Festival', otherwise remaining volumes are very smart, with mild shelf wear. Dust wrapper to 'Festival' has subsequent loss to the spine head, which has been reinforced with tape. Scattered spotting and a couple tide marks to the wrap. With similar instances of chipping to the wrap of 'Homemaking' and mildly to 'Cheeses'. 'Homemaking' has also been reinforced with tape. Sunning to the spine of 'Cheeses'. 'House into Home' is a transparent overlay dust wrapper and has a small tear to the spine tail, otherwise very smart. Internally, one plate to 'Cheeses' detached but present, otherwise firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers of 'Cheeses' and 'Festival' and the odd spot to 'Homemaking'. Contemporary ink inscription to front free endpaper of 'House into Home'. Ownership bookplate tipped-in to all but 'Cheeses' front free endpapers.
