This work was edited by Leonard Russell, an English journalist known for authoring satirical articles.
An annual miscellany, The Saturday Book was published from 1941-1975. It provided literary and artistic commentary about various arts subjects, including paintings, ballet, music and design.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome and colour photographs and plates. The dust wrapper and illustrations were designed by Laurence Scarfe.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Inscription to front free endpaper. Light spotting to text block fore edge. Dust wrapper lightly age toned to back strip, with two small closed tears to front wrap head, and a further closed tear to rear wrap head. Small mark to back strip tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
