What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Leather Binding

Reader's Union edition, first published in 1948. With engravings throughout. An exploration of the author's own experiences in the South Sea islands shortly after the end of the war. Gibbings decided to make use of his freedom to travel, and spent eighteen months in the Polynesian islands, with his personal wood engravings acting as a perfect complement to the text. Written by Robert John Gibbings, an Irish artist and author noted for his work as a wood engraver and sculptor, as well as his books on travel and natural history.
