What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

First edition. Illustrated with eighteen plates and one double-page image. Collated complete. A follow-up to his pre-war book The Local, this volume continues Gorham's observations on London pubs. A unique work of reference describing London pubs as they are today, from the point of view not of the sociologist or antiquary, but the man looking to have a drink. Written by Maurice Anthony Coneys Gorham, an Irish journalist and broadcasting executive. Illustrated by Edward Jeffrey Irving Ardizzone, a British painter, printmaker and war artist, and the author and illustrator of books, many of them for children.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor bumping to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light wear and chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and panel edges with the odd small spot. Light loss to the front panel with the odd small closed tear sympathetically repaired with tape to the internal side of the wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and minor age toning to the endpapers.
