First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce, With Dustwrapper

A set of three Hamlet inspired works by Michael Innes.

Each volume is in their original unclipped dust wrapper.

'Hamlet Hämnas' and 'Hamlets Rache' are the translations of the 1937 novel 'Hamlet, Revenge!', which revolves around the murder of the Lord Chancellor of England during an amateur production of 'Hamlet', during which he played Polonius.

'Hamlet Hämnas', the scarce first Swedish-language edition, translated by Anna Orstorm, published in 1949. 

'Three Tales of Hamlet', the first edition, published in 1950. Containing three stories by Michael Innes and Rayner Heppenstall: 'The Hawk and the Handsaw', 'The Mysterious Affair at Elsinore', and 'The Fool's Saga'.

'Hamlets Rache', scarce a German-language edition, translated by Antje and Karl Telgenbuscher, published in 1980.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, 'Three Tales' is quarter cloth with paper to the boards, in the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, smart. 'Hamlet Hämnas' and 'Three Tales of Hamlet' are lightly bumped and faded. Spots to the fore edge and endpapers of 'Three Tales of Hamlet', prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Dust wrappers for 'Hamlet Hämnas' and 'Three Tales of Hamlet' are a little edge worn and age-toned, with light spots and handling marks. Dust wrapper for 'Hamlets Rache' is fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
