First editions, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original dust wrappers, two of which are unclipped.
Written by Irish and British novelist and short-story writer, Elizabeth Bowen, who is most known for her books about Protestantism in Ireland and for her fiction about wartime in London.
This collection is comprised of the following five works; 'The Heat of the Day' (1949), 'After-Thought' (1962), 'The Little Girls' (1964), 'Eva Trout' (1969) and 'The Mulberry Tree' (1986). 'The Mulberry Tree' is a collection of writings of Elizabeth Bowen, selected and introduced by biographer and literary critic, Hermione Lee.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original dust wrappers. 'After-Thought' and 'The Mulberry Tree' have unclipped dust wrappers, while the others are clipped. Externally, excellent, with light bumping to the extremities and the occasional mark. Dust wrapper's are very smart, with light edge wear and a touch of sunning, moreso to the spines and the extremities. 'Book Society Choice' label to the front of the wrap for 'The Heat of the Day'. Tape reinforcing reverse of the wrap for 'The Heat of the Day'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean.
