This is a three-volume collection of cookbooks encompassing the evolution of post-war British food writing, from cheerful budget-minded home cookery to party planning and wine-led cuisine, consisting of:

Wishful Cooking by Emily Lina Mirrlees and Margaret Rosalys Coker (1949). This volume is a first edition. This copy offers practical, good-humoured recipes with weekly menus, thrifty puddings, and uncomplicated family dishes.

The Party-Givers’ Book by Mary Gallati (1967). An entertaining manual for helping hosts with planning, menus, and make-ahead dishes with cocktail nibbles and buffet spreads. This copy features six vibrant photographic colour plates, and illustrations by Timothy Birdsall.

Cooking with Wine by Robin McDouall (1969). A compact guide to cooking with wine, pairing classic British and Continental dishes with practical notes. 

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight fading to extremities. Bookplates from "Martin & Pamela Finch: Exlibris Gastronomique" to front free endpapers. Slight offsetting and the odd spot to endpapers of "Party Givers'". Dust wrappers, smart. Unclipped. Tape reinforcements to inner extremities of each dust wrapper, and tail of spine of dust wrapper of “Wishful Cooking”. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in the odd closed tear and crease to extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. The odd spot to first and last few leaves of "Party Givers'", with just one or two spots in other copies.
