The first editions of six thriller novels by Nigel Balchin, all published by Collins between 1949 and 1967. The six novels include critically acclaimed A Sort of Traitors, The Fall of the Sparrow, Seen Dimly Before Dawn, and the Fall of the Sparrow (published with The Book Society), as well as Through the Wood, The Absence of Mrs. Peterson and his final novel Kings of Infinite Space. Scarce as a collection.

In the publisher's original cloth, in the original dust wrappers. All wrappers are unclipped except Through the Wood and Kings of Infinite Space. Contains original advertisements at end of Through the Wood for other Balchin novels.

A psychologist as well as an author, Balchin had a keen awareness of the mind that is readily seen in his thrillers. His dark sense of humour, as well as his realistic characters make his fiction all the more intriguing. A Sort of Traitors and A Way Through The Wood were adapted into movies, while Seen Dimly Before Dawn is credited as a hidden gem among critics.
