This set offers eleven titles from the 'Biggles' series of adventure books for young readers, written by English novelist and First World War pilot, W. E. Johns.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. 

A prolific series, the stories centre around title character and hero, James Charles Bigglesworth, better known by his nickname "Biggles". 

Majority of these volumes are illustrated by Leslie Stead or Alfred Sindall. 

The entirety of this set comprises the following titles: 

Biggles Breaks the Silence (1949) - First impression. With four double-sided colour plates and vignettes.

Another Job for Biggles (1951) - First impression. With a frontispiece and four colour plates.

Biggles Flies East (1951) - Sixth impression

Biggles - Air Commodore (1952) - Sixth impression. With seven full-page illustrations. 

Biggles - Secret Agent (1952) - Fifth impression. With six full-page illustrations. 

Biggles of the Interpol (1957) - First impression. With a colour frontispiece and five colour plates.

Biggles and the Black Raider (1959) - Second impression. With eight colour plates.

Biggles and the Black Raider (c1959) - Children’s Book Club Edition. 

Biggles Goes Alone (1962) - First impression. With a colour frontispiece and numerous in-text and full-page illustrations.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with generally only mild shelf wear to majority of the volumes. Exceptions include handling marks to the cloth and the number 7 inscribed in ink to the front board of 'Secret Agent'; heavier rubbing and marks to the boards of 'Flies East', and most notable fading to the spines of 'Silence', 'Orchids', 'Black Raider' and 'Interpol'. Hinges tender to 'Black Raider' second impression. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with occasional contemporary ink inscriptions to the front endpapers and occasional scattered spots, largely concentrated to the endpapers. 'Jersey Home for Boys' ink impression to the front free endpaper of 'Silence'. Age toning to 'Flies South'.
