Five volumes. First edition. No. 1, 2, 5, 16, and 22 of the Noddy Library. Illustrated throughout. A collection of stories following Noddy, an English toy made by a woodcarver in a toy shop who runs away after the man begins to make a wooden lion, which scares him. After being found by Big Ears, a friendly brownie, he is taken to live in Toyland. Written by Enid Mary Blyton, an English children's writer, whose books have been worldwide bestsellers since the 1930s. Illustrated by Harmsen van der Beek, a Dutch illustrator and commercial artist best remembered for his illustration of the Noddy books. This set includes: Noddy Goes to Toyland, 1949. Hurrah for Little Noddy, 1950. "Well Done Noddy!", 1952. You're a Good Friend, Noddy, 1958. Mr. Plod and Little Noddy, 1961.
Condition
In the original pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and light chipping to the extremities. Minor bumping to the board edges and the odd small mark. Loss of the spine to volume sixteen, with light loss to the head and tail of the spine to volumes one, two and five. Loss to the front board of volume twenty-two. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with pencil and ink inscriptions to the endpapers. Loss to the front endpaper of volume twenty-two.
