First and only edition. Very scarce work. Illustrated throughout. A collection of traditional English and Welsh recipes compiled by the National Federation of Women's Institutes, an organisation founded in 1915 to give women a voice and to encourage them to be a force for good in the community. Offering a record of historical dishes to be enjoyed in a modern kitchen. With recipes including: almond posset, black current cordial, chicken pie, herb beer, and rabbit fricassee, amongst many others. Illustrated by Patricia Winnington.

Condition

In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Previous owner's blind stamp to the front free endpaper and title, with a contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper.
