This volume produces Holt’s diary entries and a detailed account of the Maria’s voyage, at the peak of 19th-century maritime trade and colonial enterprise. 

John Holt (1841–1915) was a merchant from Liverpool whose trading ventures were instrumental in developing commercial links with West Africa.

Condition

In the publisher's original red quarter morocco with cloth boards. Externally very smart. Spine faded with the odd spot. One or two handling marks to boards. Editor's inscription to limitation page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
