Present here are eleven issues of the 'Rupert Adventure Series', a periodical published approximately quarterly from 1948 to 1963 at the cost of 1/- per issue.

The majority of issues are authored and illustrated by Alfred Bestall, although both Enid Ash and Alex Cubie contribute some illustrations and tales.

Illustrated throughout in colour.

Present here are eleven issues dated between September 1948, and February 1954: No 1. Rupert and Snuffy; No. 2, Rupert and Uncle Bruno; No. 4, Rupert and the Wrong Presents; No. 5, Rupert's Big Game Hunt; No. 6, Rupert and the Black Moth; No. 7, Rupert and the Little Plane; No. 8, Rupert and the Wicked Uncle; No. 9, Rupert and the New Rose; No. 10, Rupert and the Stray Puppy; No. 14, Rupert in the Tree Tops, and No. 19, Rupert and the Space Ship.

Rupert Bear, a cornerstone of British culture since his first appearance in 1920, was originally created by Mary Tourtel, in order to win sales for the Daily Express from its rivals, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail. The enduringly popular character has since appeared in a number of television and film adaptations.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper wraps. Front wraps bright, with light handling marks. Significant handling marks to rear wraps. Faint former owner's inscriptions to front wraps of three issues. Lacking rear wrap of issue no 10, with the front wrap of this issue detached. Significant rubbing to back strips. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with light handling marks throughout.
