These copies are illustrated with charming woodcut vignettes by the author.

This is a three-volume collection of works from Robert Gibbings' River Books series. This collection represents a later phase in Gibbings’ career, turning away from his more distant travel writing, back to the rivers and landscapes closer to home in Ireland and France

This collection consists of:

Over the Reefs [1948]. This copy is undated. Dated here using Jisc, from a copy held at the British Library. A lyrical account of Gibbings’ travels among the islands and waters of the South Seas.

Coming Down the Seine (1954). Originally published in 1953, this volume is a reprint. A meandering journey along the Seine, rich with reflections on French life and history.

Lovely is the Lee (1954). This volume is a first edition. A celebration of Ireland’s River Lee, weaving folklore, landscape, and local character into a charming portrait of rural Cork.
