First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce, With Dustwrapper
A scarce first edition. In the publisher's cloth binding with gilt detail, and the original unclipped dust wrapper. With twelve, full page, monochrome, plates and numerous vignette illustrations throughout, by Severin. A delightful collection of children's poems by the popular English novelist and poet, Ian Serraillier. Including much loved poems such as, 'The Hare and the Tortoise', and 'The Cat and the Fiddle'. Many of these poems were broadcast on the BBC's, 'Children's Hour'.
Condition
In the original cloth binding with gilt detail. Externally, very smart with some shelf wear to the extremities. Previous owner's ink signature to the front free endpaper. The original unclipped dust wrapper is in good condition. Some closed tears to the dust wrapper, held together by tape. Shelf wear to the edges and age-toning to the fly leafs. Ink mark to the front flyleaf. Light marks to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with some light age-toning and a few scattered spots.
