1946 Sleepers Awake
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
First trade edition. An extraordinary piece of imaginative invention described as “novelistic fantasy", in which the author mingles narrative with dream visions, surrealism with satire, and poetry with statements of principle. Sleepers Awake advances the author's long-term struggle against inhumanity, oppression, war and hypocrisy with both brutal and lyrical imagery throughout. Written by Kenneth Patchen, an American poet and novelist likened to William Black and Walt Whitman for his experimentation with different forms of writing and incorporation of painting, drawing, and jazz music into his works.
