In this book Rohde treats the idea of making a herb garden and the decorative value of the colourful herbs in the flower garden. With chapters devoted to important herbs like lavender, rosemary, sages, bergamots, and thyme, exploring their lore and their uses. Includes an interesting chapter on bitter herbs and those used in medicine or magic. Written by Eleanour Sophie Sinclair Rohde, a British gardener, garden designer, and horticultural writer who authored thirty books on gardening. She is best known for her book The Scented Garden, published in 1931. Illustrated by Hilda Maud Coley, a British artist and botanical illustrator, and Gwendy Caroe, a British artist with strong ties to the Arts and Crafts movement, who was the only daughter of William and Gwendoline Bragg.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear to the panel edges and the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
