Illustrated with eighty full page monochrome reproduction of the photographs of China taken by Helene Hoppenot in the 1930s and 1940s on her Rolleiflex.

Hoppenot's photographs reveal many aspects of life in China at the time, from images of bustling streets and crowded markets to ancient temples and sweeping landscapes.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper wraps, and glassine. Externally, bright, with age toned areas to perimeters of front wrap, and tail of rear wrap. Glassine significantly age toned to perimeters, with losses to wrap heads, tail of rear wrap, and back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
