Six volumes bound in two. From a uniform set of ten volumes of Shaw's works specially published in commemoration of his ninetieth birthday, July 26th 1946. Written by George Bernard Shaw, known at his insistence as Bernard Shaw, an Irish playwright, critic, polemicist and political activist. His influence on Western theatre, culture and politics extended from the 1880s to the present day. Shaw wrote more than sixty plays, including major works such as Man and Superman (1902), Pygmalion (1913) and Saint Joan (1923), all of which are included in this set. With a range incorporating both contemporary satire and historical allegory, Shaw became the leading dramatist of his generation, and in 1925 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. Condition
Bound in half crushed morocco with cloth covered boards. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities and cracks to the joints. Light loss to the head of the spine to volume one. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot. Minor age toning to the endpapers.
