    Description

    First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

    Nine first edition works from Michael Innes, the pseudonym of Scottish novelist and academic J. I. M. Stewart.

    Two of these works - 'A Change of Heir' and 'Old Hall, New Hall' - are marked in pencil as '[author's copy]'.

    Each work is a first edition, first impression, in the publisher's original dust wrapper. While 'The New Sonia Wayward' dust wrapper is price clipped, the eight other dust wrappers are unclipped.

    Present here are:

    Far From London, 1946. With former owner's inscription of Geoffrey Bowman to the front free endpaper.

    The Journeying Boy, 1949

    Christmas at Candleshoe, 1953. A Scarce first edition.

    Appleby Talking: Twenty-Three Detective Stories, 1954. A scarce first edition.

    The Man from the Sea, 1955.

    Appleby Talks Again: 18 Detective Stories, 1956.

    Old Hall, New Hall, 1956. Marked '[author's copy]' to the front free endpaper.

    The New Sonia Wayward, 1960. With former owner's inscription to front free endpaper.

    A Change Of Heir, 1966. Marked '[author's copy]' to the front free endpaper.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth covered boards, with dust wrappers, all but one unclipped. Externally, excellent, with a touch of fading to 'Sea' back strip, and instances of light shelf wear to back strip tails. Light spotting to text block fore edges, former owner's inscriptions to two volumes. Sunning to two dust wrapper back strips, with two dust wrapper back strips significantly age toned, and the remaining back strips lightly age toned. Minor losses of paper to back strip heads of five volumes, with minor loss to tail of one volume. Light spotting to rear wraps of earliest volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with only one or two spots.
