In the publisher's original crushed morocco binding. Mounted on the front board is a portion of the silk ribbon from the Italy Star medal, a military campaign medal awarded to subjects of the British Commonwealth who served in the Italian Campaign from 1943-1945.
A limited edition work, with this being no. 41 of 100 signed limited edition copies, flat signed by Siegfried Sassoon himself, who offers the foreword to this work.
A collection of wartime poetry featuring poems composed by soldiers serving in the Eighth Army during the Italian Campaign of the Second World War.
The volume contains 72 poems by 47 writers, and were chosen from nearly six-hundred entries submitted, all written in Italy during the first nine months of the campaign.
Condition
In the publisher's original full crushed morocco signed binding, with small portion of silk medal affixed to head of front board. Externally, excellent, with back strip and board perimeters just a touch age toned, as is common with morocco of this colour. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
