What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

First editions.

A handsome set of Nevil Shute books, bound in the publisher's original red cloth.

'Requiem for a Wren' has the original unclipped dust wrapper, but is missing spine, so front and rear panels are therefore separated.

Nevil Shute Norway was an English novelist and aeronautical engineer, who used 'Nevil Shute' as his pen name in order to protect his engineering career and prevent inferences or adverse publicity in connection with his works. Aviation and engineering provide the backdrop for many of Shute's novels.

Shute's heroes tended to be like himself: middle-class solicitors, doctors, accountants, bank managers, and engineers—generally university graduates.

Includes his romance novel 'A Town Like Alice' (1950) centring around a young Englishwoman who becomes interested in a fellow prisoner of World War II in Malaya.

Other works contained in this set include the following:

'Most Secret' (1945)

'The Chequer Board' (1947)

'No Highway' (1948)

'Round the Bend' (1951)

'The Far Country' (1952)

'In the Wet' (1953)

'Requiem for a Wren' (1955)

'Beyond the Black Stump' (1956)
