First edition. Brightly illustrated in colour throughout. A collection of stories about Rupert, a bear who lives with his parents in a house in Nutwood, a fictional idyllic English village, where he finds himself in lots of adventures with his other anthropomorphic friends. Stories include: Rupert and the Reindeer, Rupert and Jock, and Rupert's Winter Journey. Created by Mary Tourtel, a British artist best known as the creator of the comic strip Rupert Bear. Written and illustrated by Alfred Bestall, a British author who wrote and illustrated Rupert Bear for the London Daily Express, from 1935 to 1965.
Condition
In the original pictorial paper binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor wear to the extremities. Light sunning to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Pencil inscriptions to the front endpaper.
